Appreciation Journal: a recipe for miracles

Over the coming months, i will be sharing snippets of my book and giving you fun exercises (such as the appreciation journal) to help create your reality. If you didn’t know you can create reality, then you’re in for the surprise of your life! Actually you have all along been creating the reality you are living, you were just creating your reality by default and didn’t know it.

In my book The Alchemy of Healing i’ve gone into much detail, but in a nutshell, our thoughts create our reality because we emit thought vibrations which have a magnetic pull. And the stronger the emotion behind the thought, the more power the thought has, which is why you need to feel your thoughts so to speak. Our heart’s electromagnetic field is 5000 more than that of our brains, and even our brains electromagnetic field can be measured a distance away. Therefore when you think positive thoughts, you begin to draw to yourself positive experiences.

To test this out for yourself, i would highly recommend you begin an appreciation journal. It’s a technique taught by Abraham Hicks and no matter how much i use it, i am still amazed at the results! I have included this process in my book because it’s one of the easiest ways to change your life for the better:

“In a notebook, list what you appreciate about the people in your life. At the top of each page, add one name, and fill the rest of the page with what you appreciate about that person. It is always easier to do this with those you already like. If you are having a hard time with someone in your life, list some other qualities about them that you appreciate. She may have never treated you well, but she may have a great sense of style. Perhaps he is a successful businessman even though he sucks as a boss. I know it’s really hard to list anything about people who have hurt you, but what you will find is that as you begin to list their good qualities, you will begin to have better experiences with them. The point of this exercise is not to keep people you don’t want, in your life. On the contrary, it’s to help you release them from your experience and bring more of what you do want. The intention is to get you into the habit of noticing more good qualities in others, which ultimately results in pleasant experiences with them.”

You can do this with anything really, not just people. I have seen miracles happen with this technique over night! No joke, over night!

As I began to notice my colleagues’ good qualities, I also began to attract more and more good experiences with others at work. Over the next few months, you will not only be amazed at how much your life has improved but you will also start to really appreciate your own ability to manifest in your life experiences.

You should also add your own name to the top of the page once in a while and get into the habit of listing things you appreciate about yourself. The more you add to your journal, the more good things you will notice in your life. This is the reason why in so many religions we are reminded to give thanks and be grateful. Because when you turn your attention to what is working in your life, your body begins to find relief from the tension brought on by the original thoughts that created the illness (or whatever problem you have). And physical healing is just one of the side effects, the first side effect is happiness followed by success and general wellbeing.

So what are you waiting for?

I’m going to sit down and try doing an appreciation journal tonight. While reading your post, I had several co-workers immediately pop into my head and thought “well… this could be difficult” but I’m sure I’ll have some success with finding things I appreciate about them if I’m honest with myself. I mentioned in another post that I’ll be purchasing your Alchemy of Healing book – I’m anxious to read it, particularly on how we create our reality with thoughts. (I’m an “over-thinker”… I hope to stop this one day)

How to heal your body | The Alchemy of Healing January 5, 2016 - 3:31 am

[…] I’ve explained over and over that it’s not a good idea to figure out what thoughts lead to what illnesses, you will not succeed in healing if you take this approach. It is far easier and more fun to TURN YOUR ATTENTION TO BETTER FEELING THOUGHTS, thoughts that feel good RIGHT NOW! Find things to appreciate around you. […]
